TECH VOCABULARIES

Hey Friends!!

Here are some of the well known(but unknown)tech words that I am going to share you.
Remember,these all may not be basic,typical definitions you read from book to pass viva/exam,but an easy explanation(that may give you knowledge but not marks in well known universities) .



DivX:A video compression standard that allows high quality video to be stored in small files.


GPRS: (General Packet Radio Service) A mobile phone standard that provides an 'always on' connection with speeds up to 150kbit/sec(existing GSM manages 9.6 kbit/sec).


Avi:Audio Video Interlace.A type of video file used by Windows and usually played by Windows Media Player and others like VLC.



Clipboard: A part of PC's memory that stores information cut or copied in an application.


Font:
A set of letters,numbers and other symbols in a particular style.Popular Windows fonts are Arial and Times New Roman.


Hyperlink:
A clickable link on a web page or in a document that takes user to elsewhere ,such as to another web-site.

Beta:
Version of a software application or system still in development.Companies make beta versions still in development.They make beta versions available to the public for evolution,testing and feedback which may have bugs,errors and which may cause minor problems to pc.

Write Caching:
Speeding up a computer by holding a data in the memory for short periods instead of writing it straight to a (relatively)slow hard disk.

Dialogue Box:
A window that pops up to display or request information.

Drop down Menu:
A list of options that appears beneath a menu bar when you select a menu option,or when you click a down pointing-arrow in a dialogue box.

mp3:
A standard for compressing digital audio.The sound quality of an mp3 file is close to that of CD audio but needs only a fraction of the storage space.

Wizard:An automated online 'assistant' designed to guide you step bt step through a potentially complex process.


Project Natal

It is the code name for a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands,[1] or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360's audience beyond its typical gamer base.
